Saint Felix

It might not be something that extraordinary  but I love walking into Catholic churches and seeing the pieces of artwork just chilling out in the entryway. This isn't anything famous, nor is this particular church, Saint Felix, famous, but it is the home church of my French Family, and last Sunday was the first communion for my youngest French Sister.

I understand how extremely important someone's first communion is. Usually there is a ceremony like thing, where the priest does something special for the kids who are getting their first communion. But my French Father wasn't able to make it to church the week that that was supposed to happen, so the priest allowed her to get her first communion this Sunday. Which was very nice of him.

The service was very nice. The priest had a nice sounding voice, and there were tons of those helper boys (I always forget what they're called) who led a very nice procession with this long candles before Communion. It was a tad awkward because the kneelers were in the middle of the pew's walkway, so while I was trying to let my French Family out (cause I was in the middle of the pew) I ended up tipping over and causing a traffic jam. But what can you do?

I was very glad to be a part of such an important part of my little French sister's life. And sharing mass with my French family was nice as well.
